About the event

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of connecting with nature alongside the beautiful Lucas Creek that flows out into the harbour. This is a tranquil spot where the loudest noise you'll hear is the song of the tuis from the trees above.


We will be clearing plants that have escaped from gardens and are making the bush their new home. Not ideal for our native birds and bugs who have evolved to rely on native plants. All sound a bit daunting? Don't worry, it's easy work and we'll show you the plants we need removing and you can get stuck in and you'll be a pro by the time you leave.


This special place is home to the banded rail a shy bird that lives on the edge between water and land, if we are lucky we might see footprints in the mud.
