Intent

UWEN aspires to be a forward thinking, sustainable organisation that is valued by stakeholders and is widely acknowledged as a force for socio-ecological regeneration of Wai Roa o Kahu, the Upper Waitematā, optimising protecting, restoring, and serving our people and planet now and in the future.

Vision

We dream of our rohe (region), nation and planet as a naturally thriving place that our mokopuna (grandchildren), and their tamariki (children) will cherish and belong. UWEN’s vision is grounded in the past, fosters passion for the present, and offers hope for the future.

Purpose

Our purpose is to provide a collaborative, integrated service to regeneration groups and the community to amplify achieving socially and environmentally positive, impactful action in Wai Roa o Kahu (Upper Waitematā) to increase indigenous biodiversity, increase ecosystem health and mitigate climate change.  We strive to regenerate our rohe (region) through a commitment to Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) and Te Taiao (the natural world).
