About the event

Meet at the Habitat Hobsonville shed at Rifle Range, Catalina Bay Drive and find out more about 5 minute bird counts; what they are and why we do them. Possibly the easiest way to get involved with restoration projects in your local neighbourhood!

You'll be given some information about how the counts work, what tools you need (a phone or a piece of paper) and how and where to do the counts and what to look out for.

You do not need to be a bird nerd to take part - just able to identify a few key species is all we ask. As you practice you'll learn more and get more knowledgeable about behaviour, flight paths and calls. We all have to start somewhere!

Totally free, suitable for everyone and just a great reason to be out and about in nature, taking 5 minutes of quiet time to listen…
